Born and raised in Hamilton, Kate moved to Britain at 18 and spent six years working in the hospitality industry. During this time she traveled frequently to the continent where she developed her love of food and wine. In 1994 she returned home to pursue her interest in New Zealand’s burgeoning wine industry, commencing a Bachelor of Wine Science though EIT Hawkes Bay in association with Charles Sturt University, graduating in 1998.

 
Kate joined Alpha Domus in 2002 as assistant winemaker and became winemaker late 2004. She has travelled frequently to France where she has worked as consultant winemaker in the Bergerac region, Château Neuf-du-Pape and most recently the Loire Valley.
